Here's what I found out.
for $260 a year you get your sharkfin to call BMW Assist when the airbags deploy.
If you do NOT subscribe for $250 there is a _CHANCE_ that the fin will call BMW A. when the airbags deploy. A _CHANCE_ , not guaranteed.
Warrenty provided "Roadside Assist" will take care of the whole roadside breakdown thing for the duration of the warrenty period. Includes flat tires, blown engines etc.
The M3 is one BMW model that has "Lifetime" coverage for the lack of the spare. That coverage simply means they pay up to $100 (one hundred) worth of towing charges only. All you get is up to $100 for Towing only.
That's it in a nutshell.
Except for the GPS? deployed airbags thing offered by BMW assist, no one I talked to seems to know any other differences between "BMW Assist" and "Roadside Assistence" even the Concierge service is separate from BMW Assist.
I gave up persuing further differences but rest assured Your warrenty coverage is the BULK of service given to being broken down at the side of the road.
What's also funny: Roadside Assist and BMW Assist are both extendible beyond the warrenty period.
