TPS and recall

i'm a new M3 owner... just got a 2002 M3 couple weeks ago from bmw dealer. engine light went on. went back to dealer today to fix light and to claim my "we owe you's" found out there was electrical reprogramming recall, but need new tps if light goes on again. didn't pay a penny plus had free loaner 2009 328i coupe, not bad... according to dealer $900 to install tps. but called parts dept, tps was only $118. question: if engine light comes on again, can i install tps myself? if yes, will the light be off after install or should i bring it back to dealer to reset? please advise. thanks.
