Thought Id have a final update on this. After an alignment the issue vanished so I guess what I experienced was in fact over centering due to wrong lengh/misalignment of the tie rods after the swap....

Yes. I've not heard of a spun bearing that hasn't scored the crank journals.

Apparently I've heard (although I appreciate it's hearsay) the rods and old M11 bolts were a bit inferior to the new M10's.

That being said, I concur and you'll likely have the new M10 bolts in...

I'd vote for a KW V2 (with hardness adjustability), or as you say, PSS9. At least for the KW it would be a straight swap with no new parts needed? And you could always sell your V1 to recover some of...
