Thanks guys. Got it timed and checked.

Another word of caution - do NOT use an ebay bridge. I have both versions and the BMW bridge sits perfectly on head, but the ebay bridge sits 1mm too high...

Not sure. Just to clarify I mean the bolt slots on the sprockets on the chain. The washer behind with the bolt holes you can move.

Thanks that's the guide I'm following. I just took everything off and when I had the sprocket off to install a new upper guide I did not orient them correctly. Running through the whole thing again.

I'm in the middle of this at the moment. I put the vanos on, engaged (what I believe to be) the first tooth on the exhaust and intake slid in. Timed it, checked and intake was off 1mm on intake side....

Exactly. I could lose the trailer and track car and not realize until the next rest stop. Wider tires than the track car help as well as self leveling in the rear.

You pay for consumables no matter what car. Front rotors are Cayenne size and you can get em for $50 per rotor. Brake consumables are as much as my M3 given my BBK, the staggered slicks are the same...

The good thing about the 6gt3 is you're basically getting paid to track it, after you go to resell, assuming the bubble doesn't burst.

There's levels to this shit. My local group has suspension but is mostly stock. My other buddy's is pretty much fully modified and is a couple seconds faster. Also depends on the driver, rear engine...

You mentioned track - my E46M build cost 50%+ compared to my track group's 996 and 997.1 GT3's, yet regularly passes them on similar rubber. Drivers are in advance/instructor groups. Highly modified...

I find the E46M is either at the top end of low hp, or bottom end of high hp. It's more fun to run high hp. Point by on the straights, back on that ass through the brake zone. :laughhard:

Well, it's been a year. The engine is still alive, and not due to lack of trying to kill it. It did 10 weekends and burns a quart of oil per weekend, but it's still pulling hard.

I used the recommended Redline D4 ATF for two years, I switched last season to Ravenol MTF-2, and will be using the Ravenol again in my off season maintenance.

They have a 275/40/17 Hoosier, but it's $320 a tire new. Keeping it slow isn't an option anymore lol.

My other half baked idea was a 275/17 Toyo RA1, but that didn't seem like a good rain tire...

Last I checked it was 175psi on Cyl 1-5, 165 on Cyl 6. Pulls like a freight train, 311rwhp in 91F, lol. Less rings = more hp?

Ok, so is VAC's stud not as strong as the OEM one on the tie rod? Or it creates more force because you move the tie rod down?

I think this thread has created even more questions for me, lol.

Bump Steer Tie Rods

Anybody used these? I need to replace tie rods and figured I might upgrade, but didn't find much info. How do you set them up?

GC, looks like you need to use a 1/2" drill bit to the steering...

Isn't it the mains that don't wear? Pretty sure if you have copper, it's coming from the rod bearings.

Front only, stock rear. Says in the AP website brake bias is fine, I'm not a mathematician lol. I've compared to stock and now I have brakes, before I didn't, so bias is great.

Makes sense. Both of the temp stickers I had on the caliper aren't showing values, so I have no idea what they are getting up to. I can try to get rotor temp and then test with blocked and unblocked...
