Default VFE CARB exemption?

Hello,

Can anyone give an update on the status of CARB testing with the VFE kit?
I know that is all that is holding me back from making a purchase.

Thanks much!

I tried to find the very recent post (last day or two) where Nik was looking for a stock M3 for the CARB test for base line comparison purposes. This indicates that they are in the process of the certification process. Couldn't find the exact post (maybe on another forum?), but thought I'd offer encouragement.

I wouldn't hold your breath. You gotta remember that they have to deal with the government.

Good point. No disrespect intended but the CARB people contacted VFE to do the tests as their place in line had come up. But you're right, governments grind slooooowly. I'm glad we don't have these regulations (yet).

So true, although I know someone in the VW aftermarket parts business who says its just a matter of $$$ to get an exemption. I am unsure of the validity of that statement though, so no bashing.

Anybody from VFE have any insight to the probability of your kit being certified?

We have spent 10's of thousands on this process so far. Throwing money at the situation will not yield a positive result. We really believe in our product passing on its own merit and as such have been making software revisions and going back and forth with the emissions lab for a while now on our E46M3 stg1. Basically our supercharged car has to meet the emissions standards of a brand new stock car. So even though our kits will pass the public "smog" check, it must meet the stringent EPA standards that OEMs are required to meet.

We dont have a timeframe but are commited to this process for our Audi, BMW, Porsche and VW forced inductions systems. We will have an update in about 5 weeks. Our M3 test car is on its way back from the lab today for some changes and then will be going back to the lab in 2-3 weeks for more tests.

Thanks Nik, I appreciate your feedback and the effort you are making to deliver a high quality product.
