Default Road Test: 2009 BMW M3 Coupe Genuine driver's car

http://www.canada.com/cars/Road+Test...611/story.html

"......whereas the complexity of the retractable hardtop’s multiple roof panels and additional mechanicals adds 200 kilos (440 lbs), not good, high above the car’s centre of gravity, even worse, which is ok for poseurs but hardly acceptable for M3 purists."

Good review, but someone should tell this dbag that the 400 lbs of extra weight isn't entirely in the roof.

Guy is an idiot. I personally love the M3 convertible and would get that in a heartbeat. I mean I do love the coupe don't get me wrong. But to be able to go top down in CA or in Europe is way better than having a roof over the head. In addition, if I wanted a vehicle for track use and road I would opt out for a porsche. However, the BMW M3 convertible is perfect for its price and especially what you get. The weight is not even that noticeable on the drive.

In the end, I would not get the M3 convertible or the coupe but the sedan. Just makes more sense to me. It seriously is though what you want out of a car. Me: I want the extra room and luxury of opening another door for a passenger. And I love the fact I can have a roof rack =)

That was a pretty good review. He said those 440 lbs were 'high up' and he's right. And if somebody actually feels offended because a journo called the E93 'poseur', he needs to grow up.

I don't now if I'll ever buy another convertible again, but if I do, it'd be a hardtop for sure, extra weight be damned. As long as YOU like your car, don't worry what others think. But also learn to accept reality; nothing wrong with that, as everything in life is a compromise. Want a hardtop convertible? It's going to weigh a lot more. Want a nice car? It's going to cost you. Want a BMW? It's going to have some issues . Want better handling? It's going to ride rougher. Want more exhaust noise? It's going to drone more. Etc, etc. Take care.
