Red face Nissan VR38DETT [GT-R Engine] Teardown

http://jalopnik.com/5422557/supercar...wn-nissan-gt+r

The VR38 DETT displaces 3,799cc, uses 24 valves with variable timing on the intakes and dual overhead camshafts. With the aid of two parallel Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries turbochargers delivering a maximum boost of 17.4 PSI it develops 474 HP at 6,400 RPM and 434 Lb-Ft between 3,200 and 5,300 RPM. Each 608-pound engine is assembled by hand by a single technician per engine at Nissan's factory in Yokohama, Japan.

despite all the high tech in that engine, I still prefer the RB26 in a GTR. easy to work on, rewarding, high revving, beautiful sound.

I spy, with my little eye... the makings of one wicked track car.

Because the flux-capacitor is fairly heavy.

No idea, but knowing Nissan I bet it would take a lot to blow the engine.

Actually if you think about it...it takes quite a lot of abuse to break the transmission in those cars (the less than 1% of GT-Rs that actually did have transmission problems)....unless you're talking about a different type of tranny.

I know they're already supporting over 800 awhp in Japan.
