Default i just bought a 01 E46 laguna seca from copart.com

Hello, im pretty new to the bemmer world, but always wanted an m3, especially the laguna seca in 6 speed. very nice color, and i drove an m3 before and liked it a lot. I have a 94 totoya pick up as a daily driver with 190k miles and it would be nice to enjoy a drive to work once in a while but cant afford a clean m3 so i thought id try my chances at copart salvage title. I dont care about the salvage title as long as its not a major fixer.

i kept an eye out on this vehicle and i thought ill place a bid on it during live bidding. i didnt think i would be able to get it, and i didnt want to go over $8500, my friend told me it might go over 10-11k. I decided to try my luck and ended up winning it for $6,100. it seems to good to be true to me, maybe im missing a huge problem with it, maybe there are major problems, but for $6,100 i would be willing to fix what needs to be done and maybe have a great daily driver for around $10,000??

There are some pictures bellow, if you guys with a good eye can share some wisdom it would be great! From what i remember reading back in the past. There was some cam bearing or some issue with a recall on 01-03 model m3s?? is there a way to check this issue out to see if it was taken care of or a way to pull maintnance records of this car?

does anyone here have a carFax by any chance that might be able to help me with a VIN check so i can see how many owners and history etc?

Vin# WBSBL93451JR10072

i would very much appreciate it!

well i hope to be part of this forum and start learning the things needed to keep this m3 in the best shape possible!!

first thing I quickly see is no airbag and it has an aluminum bumper support instead of the kevlar bumper support that M3's have, it also has different tires on the front wheels...

Good luck on repairs... those could be QUITE costly... more than $10k

i saw this on ebay seems pretty cheap

not sure how much a bumper support will cost me?
how much is an airbar and is it a simple plug and play?

i just ran a carfax on it...
car is a 7-owner car
inconsistent mileage reading

did you buy this car sight-unseen? let alone, without running the VIN by carfax or dealer?

about the ONLY thing good about this car is the fact that its been in california all its life. good luck either way

7 owners? Just wondering if dealer purchasing from auction also counts as another owner or title? I cannot see how there can be 3 owners within a year? Inconsistent mileage reading looks like clerical error as it differs 200 miles within 3 days. For only $6k, I guess it's worth a try... Good luck.

I am very familiar with copart and the auction cars. I saw this car before it was gonna play so the thing is that it could have been an attempt to repair the car and funds ended so they throw the car on copart. that would be best possible situation because all you have to do is finish buying the rest of the stuff which can come out to be under 3500 with work. I work with a body shop so I get discounts and stuff off parts and labor. Look for used stuff. car-parts.com is a good place for parts. PM me if you need any furthur help.
