Default Just bought a new car...

A Fiat X1/9 (Bertone) for $400. It's our lemons car for the upcoming season.

Anyway, we are trying to come up with some clever themes... if you have any good Italian or otherwise funny/clever FIAT themes post them up.

Current discussions:
Fix It Again Tony
Gweedos (and dressing the car and us to meet the part)
Pizza delivery car

Thanks for your input

We picked up the car today in a Uhaul. A little more rusted than we thought it would (eek) but we can do some rust repair while we install the roll cage. We bought it off ebay so it was sight unseen.

We are shooting for the June Lemons race at Summit Point. We'll see how it goes, i'm excited and anxious at the same time, being it will be my first time wheel-to-wheel racing. But there is a first for everything - and this event looks like just too much fun. The rest of our team is pretty good - we all are very mechanically inclined and have pretty good degree of car work / fabrication in our past. And we have some good car / motorcycle guys as part of the team.

I was under the impression that Lemons required a fully caged vehicle. Have they relaxed the requirements recently?

Im sorry - yes it is a full cage. We are going to have to build/fab one for the car.

Here is our acquisition... it needs some TLC to say the least... but it's a start and what does one expect for sub $500? LOL.

Plus, we were shooting for something unique, rather than running an E30 which seems to be one of the most popular cars in lemons.

Let the fun begin.

UPDATE:

After many many hours of blood, sweat and tears, we finally finished most the prep of our lemons car. (minus the paint scheme LOL)

We took it out on the Pocono Raceway (south course) this past week for testing and had a blast. It handles like a dream - and although we nearly rebuilt the entire engine with salvage performance parts, it doesn't have a lot of BHP.

But the cornering and everything else are a bunch of fun.

Here is a video from last week:
