Hi guys,
Just an update after 5 months of search and going through various FS threads I am ecstatic to finally reveal the culmination of my patience. As a lot of the members here know i was in the market for an exhaust system. For some reason buying a brand new exhaust never was the logical option for me. Some of my main considerations for an after-market exhaust were, in order of preference: 1. Weight savings 2. Quality of the system 3. Brand 4. Sound - I was looking for something not too loud as the car is my DD A used well maintained was the only option and the following were considered, by preference: 1. Eisenmann - if the price was right 2. Supersprint - if the price was right 3. UUC RSC36 - if the price was right 4. UUC TSE - I became vary of these due to too many replica system's out there 5. Stromung - at any price reasonable 6. Rogue Engg. DMS 7. AA GEN III - same as above, but was vary of the weight 8. UUC System U - The last and option (due to loudness), but it is one of the lightest After all was said and done I was leaning a lot towards Stromung because it is light, it is built good and the car being a DD would fit perfectly with my taste. Luckily the stars aligned and after looking for a long time someone local was selling his used for 1yr Stromung exhaust at a bit more then half the price. This was perfect I jumped on the deal and the best part was the guy lived literally 15mins from my place. I drove down to his house last weekend, picked up the exhaust. Fortunately the sedan swallowed it with the front passenger's seat down. After ordering the necessary parts online (the installation will be done this weekend) I finally got a chance to clean the exhaust up today. I will still do a couple of passes to clean it tomorrow till I am happy with the way it looks (which is not too bad right now). I rinsed the exhaust today after taping the pipes, used simple grean to degrease and scrubbed it off, then rinsed again. Then wiped it dry and used Blue Magic Metal Polish + Rag's (One to apply it and one to wipe once the polish dries). BTW the polish is available at any local auto store. Here are the final results, I will post some pictures after I mount the exhaust on this weekend. Sorry for the crapy iPhone pics ![]() This is the way it looked when i picked it up, too dirty with black build-up. Taped up and ready for action ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After using simple green and a light rinse...still the exhaust tips are too dirty with black build up... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After using Blue Magic...BLING freaking BLING ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tomorrow I will do a couple more passes and mount it on the car...I hope this helps someone down the road. Comments are welcomed... ![]()
