Default Am I stupid switching OEM 19" for 18" ZCP Replicas?

This car is going to be my daily driver and also I am going to auto-x this car.

OEM 19's are forged and stronger ?

OEM 19's are heavier?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

You do get more tire choices at 18", especially if you're going to use r compounds for auto-x

Yes- OEM 19's are quite heavy and 18's replicas would be lighter. However keep this in mind, since they are replicas they may not be as light and as strong as their original 18" counterparts. The OEM's are stronger (forged)- no doubt and in my city where roads are in terrible shape, their strength is important. The last thing I want is a bent rim. 18s will always feel better (more comfortable) and is the way to go especially if you are taking it to the track. For the streets, there is no real noticeable performance advantage the 18s have over the 19s (even with the heavier OEM set-up) other than a more comfortable ride.

If you are not going to the track, keep the OEM 19s. In your case, just go with the 18s and it will be unquestionably better for the track.

If your roads are in bad shape, I'd stick with the 19's. Otherwise, 18's will have cheaper tires, a more comfortable ride, and better handling.

I see absolutely no benefit to 19's, period. People think they look better, my eye can't even tell the difference. So you have heavier(unsprung weight mind you), more expensive tires, worse braking, etc...

I'll stick with the 18's if it were me.

I am not worried about the look as the car is lowered 1.25 inches with the PSS10 coil overs. How much should I look to sell my OEM 19" rims for? Rears have 20% left and front have 60% left. Mild curb rash on a few, but otherwise look GREAT.
