Default Parking in Hot Weather....

We've been having some 100+ degree days here in SoCal and my office parking is outdoors under no shade. I use a BMW sunshade-- but was wondering if leaving my car out under such intense heat can damage any components (especially electrical)? I was wondering if I should perhaps crack a window or tilt up my moonroof but hate doing so for various reasons. Does doing so even really help? Someone suggested using a car cover but a) it's a hassle and b) not sure it would really help with heat.

As long as your not exposing your paint/interior to UV rays constantly, ie: leaving a car outside in the sunlight for extremely long amounts of time, you should be fine. Long term damage to you leaving your M in the sun might be that your leather seats will begin to crack but your looking a loong time into the future there. and since its a nearly brand new car theres no reason to worry about paint.

cliff notes: youll be fine

Thanks! Appreciate the info/advice. It's only out during the work day. Otherwise, it's in a garage all the time at home.

I am here in very hot SoCal myself, and have had problems with the window regulators in both E46 sedans I've owned -- and they always break, with a cracking sound and leaving the window partly rolled down, unable to roll back up -- on hot summer days after the car has sat out in the parking lot at work all day.

I don't know if regulators are still a problem on the E9x cars, but until I hear otherwise, I am going to avoid rolling the windows up/down on hot days in my brand new E92...

Just try to keep the car clean (at least without bird droppings), use the sunshade, tint your windows, condition your interior every month, and wax the car every three.

if you are concerned about leaving the car in hot weather and want to get some tint, i highly recommend the huper optik brand. this tint is more expensive than others but its absolutely amazing to have on a car. you can really feel the difference, you don't even have to go dark, i have 40 all around and 50 on the windshield and its perfect

Um....ever been to Arizona, 100+ is normal for them and their cars seem to be doing fine??

But seriously when I lived there I'd just crack the two front windows, it helps I've found...alot.
