Default the fitment of vorsteiner parts for the e46 .....

ive had a v-csl diffuser i bought last year, and time came to paint my bumpers, so i asked the body shop to test fit it.

i stopped by the shop to have a look at the car, they told me they test fit it and fitment was not good. they said there was a lot of gap on the top edges near the left/right corners...

does this story jive with other's experiences ? jlevi says that vorsteiner stands by their products for everything (fit/quality/etc.).

the diffuser doesn't look warped or damaged anywhere. the bumper is original bmw.

just trying to make sense of this. please chime in if you have facts, not just speculation.

one thing i have not yet looked at because the car is not yet finished, are the top tabs on the oem diffuser. if it was in fact removed to test fit the v-diffuser, then those tabs should be cut (they are fused flat once the diffuser is installed on the bumper).

I've read oh the forums that Vorsteiner has one of the better fitments out of all the aftermarket companies; however, I've heard different.

I've spoke to a few body shops about Vorsteiner (specifically the GTR hood), and all but one have said they will no longer install a Vorsteiner hood due to crappy fitment. I'm extremely meticulous, so this has steered me away from any Vorsteiner products.

thanks for the input shimmy.
i am also thinking, perhaps body shops may not want to be bothered with aftermarket stuff because of 'finess' and massaging is sometimes required

No I dont think that would be a problem. They charge by the hour for installation so they would simply charge you more $$$ for it.

also had a friend who go a hood.
Fitment was like a 6.5/10. He had to shave the underside a bit to make them close but still not great.
See examples like this in the real world doesn't really help me out with considering vorsteiner

My VCSL vert trunk has a fitment issue. The embedded middle stop light doesnt fit correctly, there is a noticable gap past the gasket because the opening is larger than the opening in my OEM trunk...

I just found this out as I am in the process of installation...

i took a trip back to the shop to have a look @ the car, spoke with one of the engine gurus that works there ... the guy is the honest no-bs type. he confirmed they did fit it

so the vorsteiner is going back .... i care not for having to massage the part into a 'decent' fitment ....

as a matter of fact, i think i'll send them a nasty email directly from their web site.

You might have gotten a bad diffuser. For something like this though, the diffusers that sell for $200 to $250 are fine. The only Vorsteiner product I'd consider would be the bootlid.

I have the vorsteiner hood and it fits perfectly. Maybe the molding from batch to batch isn't consistant . I was under the impression that VCSL trunk was the way to go, if not, then which company should I aim for?

these sound like quality control issues to me. bmw uses metal molds made to a master basic contour curve. vorsteiner made the molds using a few csl sample parts, which isn't an accurate way to make them.

regardless, i will send it back for my money refunded, it's not right to have to put it up here and sell it to someone who will in turn have fitment issues.
