Hey guys, i have a couple of simple questions.
First off my automatic lock won't lock, as in when i turn the key both doors (coupe) plus the trunk should lock. But when i turn the key, only the door will lock. It only happened recently. Also the alarm will arm, but won't lock the doors. Second question is about my check light. For some reason or another, whenever i turn on my headlights my check light comes on but quickly goes away. It really wasn't a big deal for me until tonight when i noticed the check light stayed on. If i'm not mistaken i believed the light also went on when i needed to change my oil, but that's only because i didnt have the reset tool after i changed it myself (i could be completely wrong...). Anyway, i was wondering what the check light could mean. Everything i searched was about the check engine light. Any help would be great and i appreciate any answers in advanced |

year/model?
you can reset the oil bars with a paper clip, search for it in the forums for the doors/locks i would check fuses and if its all good then pull ur door panels and check wiring |

Your doors probably aren't locking because the actuators need to be replaced.
And you're saying both headlights are good and you are getting a bulb light out signal?

Car is a 95 m3. My lights all work perfectly fine, just when i turn them on the "check" light comes on (and now stays on...). It's next to the CEL. So i'm not really sure what it means... lol.

It's extremely unlikely that all his door actuators would fail at the same time. Most likely the main Body Control Module for the central locking system has failed; do some digging on BFC and you should find some good info on this.
Do you have an OBC (on board computer)?? This should sit under your climate control, and whenever your check light comes on the dash, the message will appear on the OBC. Check and see what the message is, and then go from there. Most likely you have either a taillight, license plate bulb or headlight that's either burnt out or drawing the incorrect amperage which is why its throwing an error. |

OP, it might not be your actuators but the easiest way to check is with the car on, push the unlock button and see what unlocks. If one door unlocks and the other doesn't then that actuator is likely bad. If you are having problems with everything then I agree it's probably not actuators, but actuators have the tendency of working sometimes and then not working when they are about to go bad.

Sounds like the car may have a xenon plug and play kit in it. That would account for the lights working, yet throwing an OBC code.

My OBC is missing a lot of pixels, so i actually disconnected it. Would like to replace it, but my OBC has an odd number of buttons and haven't had the best luck at finding. From what everyone is saying, the Check light doesn't seem to be a big deal? It sounds like it is an electrical problem most likely?
I'll check out BFC and my fuse tonight after work. Currently on my lunch break. Thanks to everyone and their suggestions. |
