Default Macht Schnell – e46 M3 Stage 1 Intake Charge Kit

Hey guys, i really want to keep my M stock for 3 years till its payed off then get hpf turbo kit. But for now i am thinking of getting the intake charge kit. I keep reading that intakes are waist of money. But how about this one. Can some one with that kit tell me if they like and worth every penny. Any sound change? Or should i just keep it stock.

There was a pretty extensive thread debating this intake not too long ago. I have the intake. I think the general consensus in the last thread was that it adds a tiny bit of power and a little better sound under WOT.

Edit: Found it http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...=macht+schnell

Should have searched

I'd personally go with the K&N kit.

I like it, I bought it, it's worth every penny, the sound didn't change, it's better than stock.

In all seriousness, I use the M&S filter and elbow. I purchased the M&S kit based upon reading the results of Tonesters BMC/Streamline filter and Streamline Elbow test. http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=184378

I know the M&S filter and elbow are different from the products used in the test but I seriously can't see them being that different. I didn't dyno my car before and after to show power gains, but my car feels stronger in the upper power band. The sound of the intake didn't change at all IMO. Fitment is good, the filter is TIGHT, I had to use a large pair of pliers to hold my stock airbox closed while I manhandled the clips to seal it.

The way I look at it is the filter saves me money from having to buy stock replacements and the elbow is for the performance. Eventually it will be a wash in price.

That's a good way to look at it.

Macht Schnell, though not as universally known as K&N still produces amazing products. And even more importantly, they make parts specific to BMW, so they know the market, they know the parts, and they know the customers who demand the best for their M. With that in mind, several of our employee's run this Macht Schnell Stage 1 intake kit with great reviews, but if you're looking for an un-biased review, then just look around the forum. The stock airbox is pretty efficient as it stands, so adding the filter will help as well as the elbow which will help any restriction in the system.

PM me if you have any questions
