I put a decent scratch on one if my comp package rims and took it the dealer to have it refinished.

Probably true. Most people at some point in time assuming its a daily driver scratch, curb or ding their rims. If BMW covered people on just scratches, everyone would just get them repaired and bmw would be losing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
They're only going to cover it if there is structural damage.

Few years back had the same experience on another BMW I had. Only if the tire is losing air will they repair.

First part is true. They won't cover scratches but they are repairable. I just had my ZCP done 2 weeks ago and the color came out great.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just going to live with it for now. This could be the nudge I needed to finally buy some aftermarket rims.

If you decide to replace the wheels and at the same time you decide to switch out the color of your wheels, I managed to get run too close to a curb/pothole by a Prius. I'm looking for a new front-for a very similar reason. This is how I know that what the dealership told you isn't BS. I checked it out online and with a reputable Indy shop in the area. All sources will tell you this about the wheels. |

Something tells me there are pot holes in you future..
I'm actually surprised you bought the wheel warranty... I couldn't justify it because I knew I would get something different pretty fast.

They can be repaired properly- I had 4 comp rims done on my old E46 both front and back - and probably 20 on other BMW wheels, several reliable repair companies - look for Keystone LKQ, several facilities in the US> you can ship them. As to the finish it will never be an exact match - but it is very very close. Sure you will notice it side by side and 6 inches away but not back to front on the car. Look for a powder coat system - not paint. If the damage is not too extensive you can have them spot repaired with paint. Dealerships do this all the time on resale cars. If the dealer is not giving you a good contact talk to the tire shops in your area - there are any number of repair options
