Default HELP with door lock actuator

hey guys, i'm in need of a bit of assistance. i'm trying to replace my passenger side door lock actuator on a 97' M3 coupe, and i can't seem to figure out how to get the lock out. i have the door panel off, and i have the whole lock assembly loosened from the side of the door but it still seems to be hanging from a rod that connects it to the outside door handle. any help would be greatly appreciated.

The lock mechanism has a threaded ring around the key insert and a post going through itself and the door skin. From outside you should see the ring around the key and the circular head of the post.

To remove:
Unscrew the ring around the key.
From the inside of the door, there is a small clip on the post going through the lock. Pull the off and the lock will come out.

IIRC i did not remove the lock to replace the actuator, i just maneuvered my fingers in there enough to remove the broken actuator and somehow by some act of god was finally able to get the new actuator in place.
