The sport mode alters the rate at which the throttle bodies open in relation to your throttle pedal movement. It makes the car feel faster than it really is by opening the throttle bodies at a greater rate, so 1/2 throttle feels more like 3/4 throttle in non-sport mode.

Some hate it, some love it. When I'm driving by myself, I always use it. When I have passengers, especially women, I don't use it. You can drive much smoother with it off. When I finally get out to do some open tracking, I'll have to decide if sport mode is too abrupt or not. Also, you'll burn more fuel in sport mode because you're presenting higher engine loads with the same throttle input. It's almost hard to drive gently in sport mode.

By using it you will qualify as a poser. You will think you are faster but there is no difference in the power output of the engine so how could there be an increase in speed unless you have arthritis in your ankle?

You stand a better chance of entering into the "bucking bronco" jerking mode.

It is said you will get poorer gas mileage. (I say “it is said” because I have not used the sport mode long enough to get a feel for gas mileage).

If there is no increase in power you will be no faster.

What is the point?

It's a stupid gimmick that remaps the throttle to act more like a toggle switch to appeal to the poser.

Yes, but how do you REALLY feel about it??

It's just a novelty, really. Enjoy it for a while, spin out a few times, and never use it again.

Sport mode gives you wings.....

I personally love to use it only when I am driving either on the freeway or late at night like 2AM or 3AM when there is hardly any traffic on the streets. It does give the engine and car much quicker reactions and gives you the feeling of a much faster acceleration.
I do use it when I need to put someone to shame on the road. I hate using sport mode in high traffic there are just too many cars and not enough roads.
