Default Re: 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series

More C63 BS info here:
Quote:
The 2012 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Black Series is the automotive equivalent of a deep-fried Snickers bar. Both are borderline insane and undoubtedly bad for you (or at least perilous to anyone who values a pristine driving record, in the case of this rapid Mercedes). But whereas the artery-clogging fried candy bar transforms your spring wardrobe into the enemy, the C63 AMG Black Series is a perfect example of how to build a leaner and meaner German sports sedan.

Less weight and more power has been the key to these limited-edition Mercedes muscle machines, and that holds true with the C63. Mercedes-Benz starts the Black Series transformation by upping the output of the 457-bhp naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Granted, the optional “Development Package” offered in the standard C63 AMG already pushes power to 487 bhp—which is more than enough for even the most lead-footed driving enthusiast. But in Black Series trim, the snarling engine should produce approximately 510 bhp and offer a top speed well in excess of the standard model’s (electrically governed) 174 mph.
Past Black Series vehicles—such as the ultra expensive 2009 SL65 AMG Black Series—also used large amounts of lightweight carbon fiber in their construction to trim weight and help boost performance. That should be the case with the C63 AMG Black Series which, as you can see in these spy photos, sports a new front fascia and flared fenders—the latter of which remain pretty crude on this prototype spotted testing in Sweden. Production cars will look much more refined, though no less aggressive.
In the back, a Formula 1-style rear diffuser and quad exhausts will let other drivers know what it was that just blew past them at warp speed. A 7-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, and a dial on the center console offers different driving modes that range from comfort to sport, even including a “Race Start” mode for the ultimate in quick getaways. Massive ceramic disc brakes will provide the stopping power to match this outrageous powertrain.

The C63 AMG Black Series sedan arrives first, followed by the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. No word yet on pricing, though this level of power and exclusivity certainly won’t come cheap.

There's no way that thing will sell... They should just follow BMW and keep all that expensive limited production stuff in Europe, if they want to move them off the lots..
Here's a thread back from 2008, where an 08' CLK63 BS with only 300 miles.. The original MSRP was $138K, but it was being advertised for $99K..
http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/auto...8msrp-99k.html

Values have stabilized since that initial drop, but if MB thinks they can sell a C-class in the $120K+ range, then I wish them
