HI:
Just got my ST today, does anyone have a full step by step install instruction with pics or video. I did search the forum and all I can find are instructions for GC and other brands with camber plate.I`m newbi with coilover, so I need all the help I can get. 1.do I need spring compressor to remove the top assembly on the strut hat and mount. 2.Do I reuse the hat and mount from the OE assembly and put them back the same way I took them out and put on the new strut. 3.And for the rear spring does the old rubber mount need to put back on or without it. Thanks! |

1. I didn't use a spring compressor. I used an impact wrench.
2. Since you don't have camber plate, you will reuse the OE hat. 3. You will reuse your old rubber mount in the rear unless you ugraded to heavier duty rear shock mounts. Hope this helps! Enjoy your new coils!

Are there any disavantages/advantages over using the stock camber plate vs the one you would get with say a GC kit?

Yea, I had to look at it for a minute or two myself, 'cuz the instructions that come with the kit are about worthless! I didn't have to use a compressor to remove any of the springs (either front or rear). I just removed the lower shock mount bolts and I think that I had to also detach the brake line(s) and/or free the sensor wires from their clips in the rear in order to gain enough play in the suspension to drop it far enough to wiggle the spring out. (When I say detach the brake lines...just had to loosen one of the brackets 'cuz I noticed that they were under some tension as I lowered the control arms/trailing arms.) I was also replacing my RTAB's at the same time.
As for the rear factory rubber spring perches...just remove the upper perch and move it to the bottom under the spring. The factory bottom rubber spring perch does not get reused. The ST height adj. perch sits on top of the spring and gets installed that way...hope this helps!?!? |

Where are you from GoodTime67? If you are near to Lancaster PA, I might be able to help out with the install. I installed the STs on my car two months ago.

You mean the bumpstop off of the factory shocks??? No, I didn't reuse anything from the factory rear suspension besides the aforementioned upper spring perch.

stash, I'd upgrade to a Meyle HD rear shock mounts, as seen here from UUC. They are only $55 and have more reinforcement built into the design.
![]() http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...ts.asp&x=0&y=0 I guess you guys are just using the stock upper strut bushing in the front, right? Maybe a few of you will need a camber plate if you go lower to get the suspension settings right. I figure if I go this route, I'd go just a tiny bit lower than stock, so I don't think I'd need camber plates. If you can post pics of your install, that would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks! The Rouge ones are probably overkill on a street car, but they will work great!
As long as you put in a new one, you might as well go to somewhat of an upgrade. Good work! ![]() |
