"need more bar", it's a pretty hot saying but heat cycle still wins over friends the quickest.

If the stability control is coming on and you're in the D run group, you aren't learning, you're thrashing.

Either you've never instructed anyone at a DE or you are badly misinformed. A student learns tons more being in a lower powered car than a higher powered car, especially a beginner. I haven't been an instructor that long, only a decade, (and I raced for a decade or so), so maybe I'm just too old-school now, but I believe you can achieve more by starting out in a slower car (on street tires).

To the original poster: a new M3 will serve you fine, as others have said. If you just want to learn a bit on vehicle dynamics, how to use your eyes better, etc., then by all means go to a BMW club driving school (not some random open track event). You'll learn a lot, but you will have to resist the urge to slam the loud pedal down on every straight and brake way too late, etc.
I think you need to read my post again. No where did I was the student would learn more in the higher-powered car, only that some might consider the newer, understeer-prone car, with the stability control "safer".

I didn't event hint at the student learning more in a car liek that, in fact, I said the opposite.

I fully agree with you. Me thinks you need to read more slowly.
