Not quite. If it is OE (ie "Genuine BMW"), then it will have the logo.
If it's OEM, it will not have the BMW logo. Oftentimes the parts OE and OEM are exactly the same, but they will grind off the BMW logo, then sell it as OEM. If you go to Pelicanparts, they will indicate which is Genuine BMW and which is the OEM. In the case of the PS reservoir, it's ZF http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...5%29%2C%20Each I've noticed that BMW usually gives a longer warranty for the same part, but you do pay for it. For cheap OE parts, I'll go to Tischer. Last edited by elbert; Tue, Apr-05-2011 at 03:25:36 PM. |

It's a gasket-like ring, maybe 2-1/2" diameter. I've never peered into an unbuggered reservoir, but it appears that the pink ring is bonded to the base of the container and there must be a filter screen attached to the pink ring. The bond between the pink ring and the plastic failed and the whole thing (pink gasket and filter screen) got swept down the hole and into the pump.
I assume. Having not looked into a new reservoir, I'm *assuming* that's how things are setup. Heaven knows where the filter screen is - I guess it got turned into filter atoms which are now circulating through my power steering. I'll flush the fluid next week and shall cross fingers. |
