I think they determined this by disconnecting it and moving it around by hand, and they could reproduce the noise that way... it wouldn't make any noise when turning the wheel at a stop. Before spending the money, I flushed the system and my problems went away.

I noticed my PS lines had developed a leak, I imagine the problem is that air enters the system and causes the creaking/clicking/popping. Flushing it got all the air bubbles out of the system. At least this is my theory.
This has to be it. I went out and examined my PS lines and found mine is weeping.

it might be the anti rattle clips on the brakes? same thing with me and i applied a little bit of lubricant to the clip and no more.

Thumbs down Re: Strange Clicking Noice

I have a similar problem in my front left wheel: when I'm going straight, turning left, or when the car is cold, I don't hear anything. But once it's warmed up, turning right or stopping will produce this speed dependant clicking noise. I don't feel it through the steering wheel, and in fact I won't be able to hear anything unless the windows are down.

Since I can't feel it through the steering wheel, is it safe to assume the problem is not in the steering rack?

e40SixM3, how did you apply lubricant to the anti-rattle clip?? Where do you apply it exactly and with what lubricant? Grease?
