If the car is standard and not smg, just put it in sixth gear and push it forward. Don't forget to take out the spark plugs to make it easyer.

SMG wasn't offered on Z4M's

Hmmm well if you're gonna do a valve adjustment you are going to need to pull the valve cover, thus remove the spark pkugs. And you keep the car in neutral -whether it is stick or smg- to rotate the engine.
