Default Drive cycle for emissions on m3?

I went to get my emissions done today and I failed b/c the computer said it was "Not Ready." The emissions guy asked if I recently unhooked the battery or took it in for service, but I've put on about 500 miles since the BMW recall. Is it b/c I only drove the car about 20 mins before I took it in for emission? Whats the normal drive cycle for a E46 M3? Btw, I'm S/C if that matters..

Old thread, but I'm in the same boat. I'm not supercharged, however. Any thoughts?

Here's the drive cycle that I use. You don't have to do it all at once. Find out which system is not ready, and do that certain one. Anyone with an OBDII scanner or the smog station should be able to tell you which system is not ready.

If your car sits around for a long time, this will happen. Go drive 30-50 miles and you should be fine. If you still have the problem, then I'm not sure. Resetting the ecu with autoenginuity software can also make it not ready if you clear everything.

Just drive the **** out of the car. I logged about 300 miles in one day just driving around trying to get mine in the ready state...it passed finally!

Did you have the DME recall flash done? I was in the same spot 4 months ago after my trickle charger died during storage. Did 800+ miles of drive cycles and the same 2 not ready. Dealer flashed me and ~50 miles later I was reading full ready.

Got it to pass finally. The drive cycle should be stickied up there. I drove 55 mph on the slow lane as stated. I did the 5 min idle in gear. 2 min cold start up. This gave it the ready signal. I am so glad I didn't have to take it to the dealer to smog it. Thanks!
