If you are looking for Varis lip like on my own car I can recommend a couple of people. Quote:
That said, I was fortunate enough to receive my parts after some time and they were very high quality. Being dry carbon they're extremely strong and weight next to nothing. Fitment was reasonably good. Price was around 450 euro. These days there are a few companies that can supply canards for the M3, shoot me a PM if you are interested. |

Aaron, your car looks ridiculous as of now! I love the subtle aggressiveness of it!
I've been wanting to pick up a set of Flossman front fenders for the longest time, and I still have them on my list of things to do! I still think you gotta get a set of red wheels like that PS above! Those ATS wheels would look insane in red! Also, rear bumper GTR vents would definitely even out the aggressiveness front and rear! |

Unfortunately the ATS I wanted had been recently discontinued. I might do the rear bumper vents some day but I am really happy to have the car where its at. Maybe if someone is kind enough to photoshop it for me.. |

11/11 - Bimmerworld Wheel Studs
The first of two smaller updates to keep this thread ticking over - I recently had a Bimmerworld wheel stud conversion kit installed. ![]() I have always hated fumbling with wheel bolts during changes and as my car is an early build I figured it would be a good excuse to retire my original bolts. The studs are 75mm with bulletnose tips and the lug nuts are 12x1.5. Its all pretty standard stuff but they are zinc coated to resist corrosion whish is what swayed me. Install was a snap - Loctite 271 Treadlocker was supplied and it took all of 20 minutes. I would happily recommend these to anyone who is considering swapping to studs. My only regret is not going with the quick-change yellow coated lug nuts, I don't need them but I do want them.. ![]() I also switched back to Continental tyres last weekend, this time I'm trying the newer Sport Contact 5P model. I'll provide a review once I've scrubbed them in. Last edited by M3_Aaron; Sat, Nov-12-2011 at 11:56:18 AM. |

11/11 - Lamin-x Protective Film
Second update: I'm not normally into these sorts of mods but curiosity got the better of me so I ordered a kit from ECS Tuning to see what it was like. In my opinion it is a very well considered kit. The film iself is quite thick and comes pre-cut for your model. Installation was taken care of by my girlfriend and was fairly straight forward. Basically you water down the area, apply the film and squeeze out bubbles with the supplied spatula. After installation we left the film to cure for a couple of days which allowed some of the bubbles that can't be squeezed out to disappear. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tomorrow: Return to OEM bumper mesh and rear diffuser update! |

12/11 - Interior Update
I've been working away at the interior for some time now but am now at the point where I'll consider it complete. It started with the Recaro SR-4 Impact seats which I bought late last year. The SR-4 is the Japanese counterpart of the Recaro Topline you'd find in the USA. The split seat cushion and larger Recaro logos are unique to this seat. I had them retrimmed in black suede with grey stitching and used Corbeau bottom mounts to install them. Bottom mounts were difficult to come by and there was a great deal of work involved to adapt them to the seats. I am hanging out for a pair of original Recaro mounts if they ever pop up. ![]() ![]() ![]() I ran the car like this for a few months but the trim and shape differences between front and rear seats were bothing me. My upholster was able to reshape the rear bench and matched the trim patterns and logos. He also covered the door trims to match. ![]() I also had all of my trim painted Carbon Black which gives the all-black interior a bit of a lift. I also picked up some original Recaro seat belt pads to keep things consistent. ![]() Some of my interior plastics had been badly scratched by the previous owner so I also installed a fresh OEM sunglasses holder, centre console and the 'Euro' short tray ![]() ![]() The BMW Motorsport WTCC shift knob on a custom made extended shifter are as close as I'll get to driving a WTCC car! I also installed a carbon SMG dome and extended carbon paddles. ![]() As for whats next? There are still a few other pieces I am going to have trimmed in the new year - arm rest, shift boots, steering wheel etc. as well as a couple more surprises. ![]() |

12/11 - Flossmann 2004-05 GTR carbon hood
Finally got this thing installed - fitment was great (for aftermarket) and it is incredibly light. As mentioned previously its basically a 1x1 dry skin over a 2x2 carbon frame. It isn't as well finished as some of the other nicer hoods around but it is more of a performance orientated item. ![]() Yep, its this thin ![]() Underside with all of its ugliness on display. We thought that painting the frame body colour might help but it hasn't ![]() I have some original BMW Motorsport hood pins to go with it once I can find someone to install them. |
