Circuit de Bresse this past Saturday. This is a fun and quite technical track.

I did notice the higher horsepower, especially tracking out of slow/tight corners.

Hey guys,
Two new tracks in the last three weeks: Circuit de Magny-Cours (ex-F1 track) and Circuit de Ledenon. Enjoy!

Magny-Cours

Ledenon (in HD now)

Projects for the winter - short diff (looking at 3.73) and upgrade brakes to StopTech maybe.

This is an older post, but I feel the need and the absolute demand to be heard on this point, as I've got some experience with rollcages, having build a number of them myself, and having had several built for me by skilled fabricators...

Do NOT go overboard on a cage construction. Do NOT fall prey to the scare of "More is Better". If you have a goal for weight in completed construction of the vehicle for a class or activity, don't fall prey to the fear of "to much of a good thing."

I have a Datsun V8 Zcar that we "expected" to be sub2500 pounds...Lets just say we overshot it by 200#. I'll make it up in better wheel/tire choices, along with battery and other changes.

But don't fall prey to jungle gym syndrom!

not sure if anyone has weighed a car before/after a cage install

you obviously missed the entire point of my post... please go back and re-read what was posted by others, and then by me...

the pictures that were posted by Sean are a GREAT example of an e36 cage by McMahan. It was by no means "overboard"... That was my point

Actually I didn't miss the point at all, and was thinking to the next guy that scrolls through a long build thread like this... I don't imply that his cage is or isn't to large. However, I speak first hand when I say that the last comment you posted in that post I quoted has VERY valid weight to it (punn intended). Most people don't do a before and after weight comparison. That's my point... People should speak to several constructors, check the rules for every club they "may" race with, and then go from there...

In my own case, we built a Datsun V8 Zcar as a UTCC car and it is very safe, but very heavy. Much heavier than it could have been and heavy enough that I'm considering scrapping the cage in the car and starting over. So that's my whole point... Not necessarily aimed at anyone, but just to make others who haven't gone the path of full cage construction to think and plan accordingly.

Default My E36 Track Car - 18 months in Europe

Yes, it was 18 months ago that my wife and I moved to Geneva Switzerland. And it was about a year ago that my car was again track ready (bought towing car and trailer plus all the accessories necessary to tie it down). Since then, I have tracked at Magny-Cours, Ledenon, Dijon Prenois, Bresse, Lacquais, and Le Mans. With one or two more coming next year. The car has performed well, i.e., no mechanical issues. Here are some pictures:
