It was nice meeting you man. The place is awesome.
Now if I could just get my car to stop unlocking itself and rolling down the windows without pulling the fuse. ![]() edit: read this: I've had cars come in that had bad door lock actuators, some that have bad GM5 modules and a few that have had both! There is no good way to determine if the actuator is bad except to replace it and see. On the GM5 module however the microprocessor checks itself and will log faults with the door lock outputs. The dealer can read these fault codes and determine for certain if the GM5 has a problem with the door lock outputs. If the problem persists after repair/replacement then it is an actuator problem. There is hope for it only being the GM5 module! from: http://bmwgm5.com/

I'm assuming the door lock actuator is more expensive and/or difficult to fix?

Hey Josh,
Sorry I didn't see your post til today. I left work after posting my message and went straight home lol. I know they meet at flippers right by UCF, I will check the time and post it here. Lets go next Week. If Mike comes too, that will be 2 new M3s, hopefully we can get more people to go as well. |

.... yeah.
I called the guy from the website and he seemed to think it was the drivers door lock actuator based on my symptoms. I have a couple options... Take it to the dealer and pay $140 for them to diagnose it. If they find out what it was and it was related to the repairs done by the shop, or from the accident, the shop covers the diagnosis fee and repairs. If they find out it is not related and is just a massive coincidence, then I can have them do the repair and they waive the $140 diagnosis fee, but charge it right back with $140/hr labor and price gouge the **** out of me for parts. If they find out it is not related and is just a massive coincidence, (deja vu), then I will know what is wrong with it and will likely do the repair myself. I have to eat the $140 diagnosis fee plus parts ($120) from tischer or elsewhere online. I can skip the dealer all together and just order the part online, replace it and hope for the best. From my research it seems as if it is the drivers door actuator. The part is $120 on tischer. Not sure what route I'm going to go. Autologic reported multiple drivers door mechanism failures. After speaking with the guys at PSI and the dealer I'm not sure they are going to do too much more to diagnose it. They may run a few extra tests, but I am almost positive they will end up telling me it is the damn drivers actuator. Ahhhhhhh what do I do. I guess I'll just order the part and replace it. Worse case scenario I have a brand new door lock actuator and have to take it to the dealer to have it diagnosed anyways. Right? ![]() by the way josh, my e-mail is bryan69087@hotmail.com

Yeah Bryan I'd just order the part and we can tackle it next meet or something if that's what you think it is.
Sent you the ringtone.. ![]()

I just need to get this resolved quickly. I'm sick of pulling the damn fuse everytime I park.

I've replaced the door actuator on a regular E46, and I put that job up there with things I don't ever want to do on these cars!
