Besides, she volunteered to help! I'll be taking pics and video on Saturday.
Sounds like a solid plan. Give it a few cold starts and a few days to coat the pipes and let the ECU adjust. Some video, even before that, will be very cool. OEM catback is indeed a porker, at around 65 lbs. You'll be impressed at how well made it is though.

Sounds like she's a good sport. My girlfriend is terrified at the idea of being under a car.

Absolutely love that car. Snapped a pic of one on hilton head while rolling and it was my phone wallpaper for a couple months. Beautiful!

My wife rocks. When we were dating I had a different 928 that was a big project. She was under the car helping me change the clutch while oil dripped down, and I knew I found the right one.

One word. AWESOME! Exactly the sound I wanted, deep growl at idle with zero rattle, builds to an amazing scream at full chat. Quiet at cruise, zero spitting/popping off throttle, and no rasp at all, no droning either. Just a fantastic sound! My original compression rings were in fine shape so they got reused, and my exhaust hangers were perfect. No issues with the install, took me about 45 minutes by myself on ramps.

The Stromung is beautifully made and fit absolutely perfectly with no trouble at all. Everything lined up exactly where it should and the (large) tips fit the cutout dead center, with almost no room to spare. You couldn't go larger.

And holy crap you guys weren't kidding about the stock exhaust, seriously heavy. I was careful using a couple jackstands to get it out of there with no issues, but damn it's heavy. On to the pics.

Before #1, stock pipes. 'scuse the dirty car.

Before #2. Dirty under there, need to do some cleaning at some point.

Compare stock vs. Stromung. What a difference.

After #1

After #2, those pipes fit the cutout but just barely. Nicely made!

Mhmmmm Stromung...

I want one so bad. Is it worth the $650 for a brand new one or should I try to find it used?

Yes. Because you'll never get mine used and I highly doubt many ever hit the used market. For what it is, it's a fantastic price. Just check the price of even the Borla, let alone some of the other brands. Stromung is actually the least expensive of the *good* exhausts. Stay away from ebay.

I cannot stress enough how impressed I am with the fit. I have installed a lot of aftermarket exhausts and they almost always have some fitment issue that requires adjustment. It goes with the territory...usually. But this Stromung fit perfectly, no adjustment necessary, and those very large tips hit the target dead center with just a fraction on either side. I expected it to take a little while because they always require some fiddling, but 45 minutes from backing it out of the garage to hitting the road is seriously impressive.

Can't WAIT to rev 'er up in the parking garage Monday morning.

I have a Borla that I got for about $350 used, so if you can find a used exhaust grab it. Neither Stromung nor Borla are as expensive as most of the other AM catbacks and I just can't see the others being worth sooo much more.

Stromung is made in the US I believe, so another good selling point along with the price, sound and build quality. Hard to beat.
