Bump - bringing this back from the dead...

Does anyone know if the Bosch 0280160575 4.0 bar FPR is a direct plug and play replacement for the stock E36 3.5 bar FPR?

Bosch 0280160575 4.0 bar FPR:

Thanks for the help!

My friend is using the Dinan (bosch) one so I would think so. The pictures look very similar.

re-bringing this back from the dead. To answer your question...no, it won't work.

I came across this thread when doing my research. Today, I installed dinan intake, euro MAF, bimmerworld boot, dinan throttle body, and did the dinan stage 4 software.

I got the part you listed above and it does NOT fit. The first seal (the little one that is 2-3mm wide) is wider on the bosch part.

I am still looking as I would like to get the 4 bar FPR for this setup.

Hope this helps somebody else. I found that part for like $34 bucks on line which is cheaper than the dinan at about 150 (from the forums...haven't verified yet).

With Alfa's we use a couple of sockets and you push the inner top of the FPR in with a vise. This increases the pressure. A bit hit or miss but not hard once you get a feel for the amount of crush. I had a guage on the rail and did it bit by bit.

Default Re: Dinan (Bosche) Fuel Pressure Regulator

I am going to do a full post about it all, but for now, here is the pic of the bosch 4.0 bar FPR that was discussed above, along with the dinan 4.0 fpr that is modified.

Screen shot 2012-06-21 at 4.11.39 PM.png

As you can see, the bosch part is thicker and will NOT fit. There is no 4.0 bar BOSCH part that fits the E36 (that I have been able to find...and believe me I searched).

You will also note that the Dinan part has a 4 scrawled into it as they custom modify a 3.5 bar fuel pressure regulator.

I read forums that this part is not necessary, but I disagree. Car is running lean, and I will post my final update after I get it installed in a few days.

Sure the car will adapt, but after 2-3 days it threw a check engine light and after some research has ALL the symptoms of running lean. (I did full dinan stage 4 with 3.5 CF intake, silicone connector to 3.5 MAF, to 3.5 bimmerworld silicone boot (with ASC delete) to dinan big bore throttle body.

Hope this helps somebody else.

Going from 3.5 to 4.0 Bar will give SqRt of 4.0/3.5 or about 1.07.

That's about 7% more fuel. going from a 21.5to 24lb injector is 2.5/21.5 or about 11.6%.

7% is about the difference between 14.7 and 13.7 so it's a full point. If your car was really lean, it would throw and O2 sensor out of range code or something similar.
