Gorgeous car, it's coming along very nice. Love the wheels, but I may be a bit bias.

Some pitucture I tookof the new parts being installed, less the CSB (that came in the following day) and I forgot to snap a picture of it before I put it in. ![]() Another shot of the New Dr, Vanos Vanos After the car was done I was a bit exhausted so I just parked her and snapped a couple pictures and didnt do anything. ![]() ![]() So to make sure I fixed all the little issues I was having I hooked the car up to the computer to scan and make sure things are right. The ripple strip noise I was having before is still there but its a lot harder to replicate. I only replaced the CSB as I had replaced the flex disc the year before (thus that is pretty much new) but when I was doing the work I did notice that the flex disc was bend for a few seconds-1 minute when I was bolting the drive shaft back to the trans. I think becuase of that it might have thrown that out of balance (not even sure if that is possible) so that is what I concluded as I still get the noise but at a much much harder to replicate compared to before. I ordered a new flex disc to see if that cures the problem 100% or if not, possibly a new drive shaft. I also put in an order for a new water pump and thermo stat. the Fan clutch was definately bad but now I have over cooling issues as the fan is cooling the motor too much when idle. It almost comes to the first white dot. and then goes back to normal. I Figures I would do the rest of the system. Will update the build once all of these things have been taken care of. |

Hey man!
Nice journal and great looking car! I may be temporarily moving to MI for a few months and there is a ton of maintenance I want to do on my own car. I see you DIY most of your stuff! It would be great if you're willing to help me out or recommend some quality BMW speciality to shops. I plan on doing a ton of drivetrain and rear suspension stuff ![]() Keep up the great build!

Very well kept M you have there, it's beautiful! Btw...love your blow it out of orbit approach towards your vanos code. It's the only way to be sure.
I don't blame you though, I probably handle it the same way myself. Great work!

Sounds good! Yeah the suspension stuff is cake at this point. What driveline things you planing on doing? If we cant DIY it, I know plenty of top knotch places in the Metro detroit area. Where about the MI area are you planning on moving to? Quote:
Yeah, the thing is I got a symbasian solenoid b.c of the codes. didnt fix it. (and keep in mind, this entire time no symptoms or anything to my car, loss of power or rough idle or anything) and then I tried a different car with a Known good solenoid and still kept poppoing up. I then decided to just order a new one from Dr Vanos, everything is good to go with a 1 Year warranty. Pop it on and no more SES lights. I scan the car for any other codes, and the same codes still popped on! I think its because I needed to readapt the VANOS via vanos test... I think the enitre time I didnt need to even replace any of my stuff but simply a readaptation was needed. (took my vanos appart like 3-4times). O well, the way I looked at it is, I hit over 100K miles and I dont have to worry about it for anther 100K. 1500 is nothing every 100K miles, or at least nothing compared to how much money we dump into our cars in mods... (that is one thing that I never understood, people complain for a 1-2K vanos unit but will easily dump 3-4K in wheels... LOL) Update: Decided to remove the front 1 Piece lip and go with CSL splitters. Will post up a few pictures once I clean the car a bit. Here in MI its been on and off with rain and sunshine. |

Have not updated this thread in a while for the reason that I really have not modded my car. I have been a bit lazy (mainly busy with other things in life) to put up more pictures. Really the only thing that changed is the front bumper no longer has the 1 piece splitter but just the regular CSL OEM look with 2 spliters. I did an oil change this weekend too and found out that the new oil that BMW is using isnt 100% the same. Based on the look (color) and the smell. Viscosity also as the new stuff is 2 times + thicker based on feel. I also spend the rest of my Saturday helping a fellow forum and M3 enthusiast< FlipM3. Great guy to hang out with. he needed a little help with his front driver side caliper. It needed a rebuild and it would seize on him. Long story short is, he warned me that that corner of the car is haunted, and I didnt believe him but soon learned my lesson! Lol.... After a few hours of testing and working we finally got it done and went on to test and make sure it was good for the street. Thats it for now. near future plans for the car is to detail it before putting it away for storage! |

Seriously, thanks for the help man! I TOLD YOU THAT CORNER IS BAD LUCK!!! First corner to have a bad wheel bearing. First corner to have a bad sway bar end link. The outer ball joint was so bad that VSMotorsports had to saw off the Front Control Arm...no joke. Then of course, the only corner to have a seized caliper. Your patience was truly appreciated! I can't wait to meet up again soon. Hopefully Tony is healing alight That boy needs some food!
