Default Between driveshaft and DIff leak!

Not sure what is causing the leak but i got a PPI done on the car They did a inspection 2....changed the diff fluid and everything!

but when i got the car on the lift last weekend i found that there is diff fluid leaking somewhere inbetween where the drive shaft and diff connects at that flange!

should they have caught that!

about how much would it be to have this problem addressed?

It's the input shaft seal, where the end of the driveshaft goes into the diff.

Common issue. It's about $50 in parts for the input flange. If it wasn't leaking before the PPI they either missed it, or over filled the diff. Either way plan on replacing it soon before you run the diff dry.

It appears to be a common issues with our cars. Some with very minor leak just leave it.

I think the Indy shop charges about $600 to replace all the differential seals.

is it an easy DIY or id have to drop the Diff and open it up to change the seal?

Im praying that the diff was overfilled....and if it was is there a way to tell?

would it stop leaking after it leaked out the excessive fluid?

AND if it leaked because it was over filled and the seals were still good, does it means that it just damaged the seals since its leaking now?

sorry about the long book

I've had a seeping diff for 3 years now. Never a drip.

What he said, if its a weep your ok. When you see a drip on the ground its time for action. Doing a pinion seal is not hard but if your asking about DIY, educate yourself before diving in. The pinion nut torque sets the engagement of your pinion and ring gear. YOU HAVE TO PUT IT BACK TO THE EXACT TORQUE. If not you will ruin the gears.

If it's around the input shaft, are you sure it's not grease from the driveshaft's rear CV? I was just typing about this in another thread. When I R&R'd mine, there was thick black grease all over the place. Of course, it had a good 100k miles to get like that.

Actually I replaced the pinion seal myself didn't see a issue before pulling it but after I popped in the new one there is not a single leak in sight!
