Angry E92 M3 catches fire and explodes

My 2008 BMW M3 caught on fire while driving. I heard a loud explosion, then the car went dead and the control messages stated "Engine Failure," I looked up and there was fire coming from the front tires. I immediately exited the car while bystanders ran to my aide. They told me that there was fire coming from the rear of my car as I made it down the I-395 Exit 8C Off Ramp. The fire grew quickly as gasoline made its way down the Off Ramp. Within 5 minutes the car exploded! What's crazy is that the car is on full warranty (<38k mile) and was purchased less than a year ago at Paul Miller BMW in Wayne, New Jersey. No one was hurt, but the experience was dreadful. I am an M3 enthusiast, this was my third M3, but I will definitely think twice about getting another.

I have no idea what caused it; firefighters told me there was a lot of gasoline under the vehicle, which leaked down the off-ramp. It looked like something in a Terminator movie, massive balls of fire everywhere. I thought I was going to get hit from flying debris. Car is insured, but BMW owes me some answers....car can be replaced, my life can't!

Defiantly try and get BMW involved, this should not be happening

Glad to hear no one was hurt, that's just crazy. I hope everything gets resolved in your favor and you receive a replacement with no cost to you. Good luck.

Glad you are okay.
BMW will definitely have to work on this incident, especially when you are still under warranty.
Like many say, this is a rare incident that can occur in any type of vehicle.
