I kept the car running with ac and stereo in 95farenheits while waiting if that matters and did not drop tire pressure. Basically I filled up the car went to the track, ran, and went home with no change. Unlike all the stangs over there.

The M3 is good at that because it was designed for it. Ability to keep up with 997 Gt3s on the tracks doesn't translate to the same relative performance on a drag strip. BTW, you can expect the Porsches to do better on a drag strip as well due to more low end torque and rear engine layout. |

Naturally Agitated

102 is low, but if it's high heat and humidity, it would naturally be lower. But, with modifications, that's still low.
I tried mine once, years ago, on a drag strip, 3 passes, and bone stock, I managed a 13.4 @ 107.1, 2.1 60', IIRC. Elevation was like 80' and it was ~15°C, which are great conditions. I seriously doubt I could have done better.. the M just doesn't launch, but I never cared anyway. If I want to know what power to weight ratio is, I'll have it dyno'd - drag strips seem useful for little else to me.

Yeah, for those temps, you not wanting to slip your kevlar clutch, and few mods, sounds about right. Skilled launches on stock cars sometimes get to 13 flat in very good conditions. The headers w/o a tune are helping a bit but not much, but you've got to abuse the clutch to get much better IMO.
Also, you don't want the car dead cold, but running the air in 95 degree heat probably didn't help you any. ADS

Op why in the world are you needing to defend yourself on this forum?!! I applaud you for going to the track. It's fun. Sure it's not what the m3 shines at but why the heck not. I believe I'm similar to you. I track my cars and I don't prep them for 1/4 mile. Stereo and ac going, leave the tire pressures high I just roll up hot and let her rip. usually I'm data logging or just practicing shifting fast.
I think your tires are balloons and you probably only have a 245 mm tire tread actually contacting the ground on a stock wheel width with 285s. Regardless the 2.0 is a good 60 foot for street tires imo and maybe your mph is down slightly.. What is the elevation of the track you were at? |

It's filthy and hp+ do a lot of dust but here it goes... ![]() ![]() Quote:
I had the same comments when I fitted 265s on OEM front 4 years ago. With proper pressure You definatly still get a lot of contact patch and it works. I have the luck of being friend with the Pirelli Motorsport directors around here and he looked at my tires at countless track days and said I had no benefits of going smaller. I have to check elevation but I don't see it being to high. |
