As previously mentioned I'll post pics of the water pump wiring when everything is buttoned up. The intake temp sensor I still have to do, I should be wiring it this weekend. (more on the jetstream hose below)

8/5/2012

Small update today, since I can only do so much before the new parts arrive from VF. I started by going after the FPR, and it wasn't so bad, since I still remember the steps from when I did the fuel filter two years ago. I tried to get my needle nose pliers in there to remove the snap ring, but the pliers I had weren't sharp/pointy enough, so since my mother was around, she made the run to the local sears and picked up a set of snap ring pliers for me. With the right tool, the part came off in a breeze, and I was on to putting the new fpr on.

Old one is on the left, and the new one is on the right:

While I waited for the new snap ring pliers, I replaced the check valve I bought off of eBay with a larger one from eBay. This new one fits the larger hoses better, and since I'm being overly cautious about vacuum leaks, I figured I'd replace it now before I regret it in the future. (KidRobot, this is the second vacuum valve)

Next came the IAT wiring, all I had to do here was splice into two of the five wires for the maf wiring, and ziptie the maf out of place. I couldn't get heatshrink tape over the wiring, so I went crazy with electric tape (like Happy-Happy always does). The maf sensor, I covered twice to be safe, meaning bag it, tape it, then bag it again, and tape it again. I'm not sure where to place this so that it would be out of the way, and for now I have just left it hanging there, but I think when I go at it this weekend, I will try to move it into the ecu bay. I also installed the intake, don't worry 0-60Motorsports, the cleaned filter is now looking like new! I have angled the open end of the filter towards the passenger side so this way it will be less susceptible to water.

Thanks for the updates. This information is about to become very, very handy

Btw, are you not supposed to cut the MAF sensor off entirely?

You could, but not necessary so that you can return the car back to stock more easily if you desired.

And for ILLuSioNz X, did you consider adding a catch can? I think it is a worthwhile investment for a boosted engine. I meant to do it when I installed my S/C, many many miles ago, but only did it fairly recently (but wish I did it many many miles ago ). I only mention it since now is a good time to do so with the engine compartment apart.

Yes, moving it to the ECU bay is a good choice - I did this too.

I agree - a smart move and much easier than installing later.

Thanks, I'll attempt moving it to the engine bay tomorrow night.

As for the catch can, I'm suprised you guys reccomend it even though the VF kit has its own dedicated intake oil drain line. I don't mind picking one up, eBay has them for ~$25 in parts, so it's not too expensive. I'll shop around for one tomorrow at work, and I'll install it within the next few weeks.

8/8/2012
The ECU, new pulley, and the jetstream valve block offs came in today, sunfortunately the injectors will be sent in a seprate package.

After speaking to VF today, they told me that they did clear the fault codes from my ECU, but I still have to get the adaptations reset. Does anyone know of any local places or even other trustworthy members that can do this for me? Its either I find somebody locally, or "break-in" the kit for ~200 miles.

Yes, that is true, there is an oil drain line from the VF intake manifold, but the whole point of the catch can is to prevent any oil from getting into the intake to begin with (and rob octane in your fuel, among other things, if it goes back into the engine).

I would not be too cheap on the catch can if I were you. While the basic design is not that complicated, I think this is one of those items where you get what you pay for. I thought a good compromise between price, quality and features was the Stealth catch can by 42 Draft Designs. It is not too big and fit nicely in the ABS void on the passenger side of the engine compartment along the firewall.
