Default SMG Problems in HOT!! weather **HELP**

Guys, i live in Australia with an 04 M3, as soon as the temperature gets to 30 degrees celsius, my smg light starts to flash and i loose power, after its gets hotter the light stops flashing and just stays on, and then goes into neutral, if i give it about three seconds without moving shifter, it will go back into gear on its own but then again do the same thing. In cold weather its perfect, its only a problem when its a nice hot day..
Has anybody had these issues before?

I just typed a response in the above thread describing what happened (at the end page 2). Dealer found nothing wrong...

Post any updates in you find what the cause is....
Good Luck,
Ivan

Could be a thermostat problem.

Either way, it is NOT normal.

That seems odd. Like Chief say's defiantly not normal. I have tracked my car hard when the temp was 104F here in SoCal desert with out any problems. Mine is an '06 so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I would get a second opinion.

AZ summers of 120F during the day and 100 F at night. Never had an SMG problem or car overheat on me.

Is that a new problem or been there for awhile? When is the last time you have the hood open? Try to slam the hood again.

I had the same problem few weeks back after service, and the Mechanic told me to do that and the problem is gone. In your case, could be a sensor malfunction under hot temp though

Cheers

what Andrew said... here we live in 42-44c degrees all summer and I have never had a single issue with the SMG in my 03.

We occasionally drop below 0c and still the SMG preforms flawlessly.

I can't see heat as the issue.
