Ah yes, excellent points you raise.

Especially when BMW did a facelift to the E46 models a few years in. Clearly the E46 was a failure, right?

Good point on the styling, the E36 guys were right when they criticized the E46 as being ugly. The guys that never had the money to move the E46 that is.

Yep, 6 cylinder turbo thanks to all these eco hippies and MPG standards ruining larger displacement, high revving NA motors for everyone.

Every car is oudated right after it hits, time marches on. 60+k? Does not bother me, bothers you. Cars are not investments, who does not understand this? I'll have the next gen M3 as well while you are still contemplating moving on.

The failure is not the E92 M3, which is the best car in its class and one of the best cars in the world, renowned by automotive press worldwide with a far greater level of influence and knowledge than yourself. The failure is you.

I was pretty sure the only thing (facelift) on the E46 was LED tails in '03 and the worthless "competition package" in '05. . . The year before end of production. Try as you like to convince little man, the E92 is an ugly ducking. A guy I work with has an E92, and he is man enough to admit BMW dropped the ball in the "aesthetics department". At least the M division is trying "sex her up." My first line of business would be to remove the side mirrors that look like they came off a truck.

I'm pretty sure the only thing the M3 eidition model gives you is new color, springs, and some interior stitching. Do you read what you post?

Who cares what some guy you work with thinks? Why would I put much stock into what the manager at Burger King thinks anyway?

The E92 is far better looking than the E46, live in the past all you want. I mean, I have taken my car to meets with E46's, and have seen people's reactions first hand. Not to mention having both vehicles, I know which one turns more heads. The E9X gets far more attention, this coming from an owner, not a dreamer. Which one looks better depends on the individual anyway.

Your first line of business should be to stop continually complaining about the E9X in the E9X section and to start saving up money for a modern M3. The E9X makes he E46 feel like it is 30 years old. You need to worry about your business, not BMW's.

question: why does everyone need to like the new model. I still see e30 bmws and drool. Your logic doesn't stand- you are acting like one of those folks that believe their opinion is always the only possible way to do things- there is no right and wrong in regards to aesthetics- people like different stuff and characteristics apply different to them- and that applies to everything: clothes; music; house decorations; vacation selections; cars; and even personal relationships.

I understand your frustration when someone is "insulting" your specific car and model, and does that in this section of the forum- I agree with you on that; but do not make statements that A is better than B, because you are basing them on subjective views.

Additionally, stating that the e46 is 30 years behind the e9* is a fallacy. Anything besides hard facts is pure air talk. I do understand that you want to feel good for the 65-70k you shelled out, compared to the 52-55k avg e46 prices, but it is a comedy believing the new model is so advanced...

I'm only interested in what aesthetics does for me, not other people, as I don't suffer from low self-esteem. Hell, even some auto journalist rag writers have started in the first paragraph . . "It's not the best looking M ever made. . ."
I have a feeling you live with your parents, so you may want to clean up your room rather than talk about cars you can't afford on the M Forums.

This thread has exhausted its usefulness.

In the future, stop all the bickering and treat each other with respect.
