It was late, and I was tired, and I'm probably mistaken, but here goes...
I was driving home from my shop last night after working on the car. My shirt was pretty dirty, and it's a short drive, so I thought I'd leave the seatbelt off so I wouldn't get it dirty. So then the SMG, which has always run perfectly, started to act up. It randomly disengaged the clutch, re-engaged it, the throttle would go to idle when I stepped on the gas... it basically wouldn't go above 30 in 3rd gear. I started swearing in German as I pulled over and put it in neutral and... put... on... my... seatbelt. I continued driving for another 20 minutes, and it ran perfectly the whole time. I've never had an SMG problem before this. Again, it was kind of late and maybe I'm mistaken, but it sure seems like the seatbelt off was related to the SMG acting up. I just can't imagine BMW would set that up.... Any ideas?
