Default HELP; how to hook up a new TV into system

I just got a sweet new 50" plasma. I have had a sony reciever/5.1/dvd player for a while, but since i just moved back from Okinawa, i unpacked everything, and cant seem to find any of the cables. I have had a total brain fart as to what all i need to hook all this up the right way.

end result, i want my cable tv to play over my surround sound, and DVD's to play on the tv.

ive attached a few pictures. Currently i have one HDMI cable, but dont feel like buying 2 more if i dont need them.

do i have this right....DVD out to Reciever's DVD in, Cable box out to Recievers video2 in, Recievers out to tv?

WE have the exact same HD sevice box cool...the service is really cool and I am totally hooked on HD now. I have a new Samsung 42" LED LCD in my Master Bedroom and it was very easy to hook up, ever though my wife did it while I sat in the background tellling her to hurry up slave

When you picked up your HD Box from your cable provider they gave you a HD cable w/it. So don't go out and buy $60 cables from BB or anything. That HD cable goes from your Box to your #1 HDMI input, very simple. NOw the part they don't tell you is that you have to call your provider and "register" the box w/them and they will activate it. Also make sure your TV is set to HDMI #1. Hit the source button on your remote and scan down thru AV,AS, until you get to HDMI 1, wait about 5 secs then the the "no signal" or "weak signal" will disappear and you will start getting your HD programing as usual.

Your sound system should simply hook into your HDMI #2 input but I am not sure about that. Hope this at least solved a little bit of your issue Welcome back from Okie btw.

buy two more HDMI cables... got to you can get them cheap monoproice.com IE under $10 delivered and a good quality... if the HDMI you have is from best lies take it back and buy a cheap one, they either work or don't. cables = MASSIVE profit margin for retailers.

You have an easy setup there. All HDMI!

DVD to Receiver-DVD in w/hdmi
Cable to Receiver-Video2 BD In- w/hdmi
Receiver-out to TV HDMI1 w/hdmi

Should be able to get two more HDMI cables for less than $10/each.

One more place to get quality cables for cheap (also my go to place for blank media because the prices can't be beat). Good luck OP.
