Default Inspection II

I have owned a 2004 M3 for 5 months - Is there a light on the dash that comes on when inspection II is up? otherwise, how do I know when it is time?
Any recommendations for service in NJ other than a BMW dealership?
Is there a warning light for when brake pads need replacement?

When inspection II is due it will show up. When you first turn the key to position two, it should either say how many miles till your next oil change or inspection, which ever is up next. As far as brakes, there are sensors that will tell you when it's time to change them.

Did you receive any maintenance records from the previous owner? You can use service on another facility if they carry 10W-60, or just take them your own if you have a preferred mechanic.

And yes, the light will be amber when the sensor trips.

This. Everytime you start the car, it'll show x amount of miles to inspection or oil (whichever is next up).

And for other suggestions on where to take your car in NJ for inspection II.... go to either forum member Jon (tonggi) or a well known M guru in NJ is Don at Mr. M Car. Little bit more expensive, but he does great work http://mrmcar.com/
