Default Help. Car at Shop. Codes Pulled. Rich & Lean

Car is at Bmw shop. Check engine light came on. 2 codes pulled.

one running Rich
one runing Lean

They are stumped. i am stumped. ANYBODY HELP? IDEAS?

Im not sure how codes work on BMW's but as a ford tech there are continuous and stored codes. If this is how BMW's work then one might have been a minor code that didn't set of the CEL but was stored in the memory.

YOur best bet would be to clear the codes and see if one or both come back. I don't get how to could have set both at the same time.

I recall reading a similar post for a e92 M3, they misdiagnosed it several times until they replaced the ICV.

I think these guys are right about resetting the codes and seeing what comes back. Is it running rich or lean?

Did you get headers installed recently?

Sound like your pre-cat o2 sensors are swapped.
