Default detected oil leak.. help

hello, in the process of changing my oil today, I notice an oil leak running down the edges of the block or connecting point to somthing/tranny? there is a threaded rod protruding (almost like an ear where you bolt-on to-I guess) without a nut and I dont know if that would cause the leak? I was able to see this through the vents on the alum engine shield/nest to oil pan drain dust cap. I know i dont make much sense but this is best I can do. any help would be great... I did try to take pictures but digital took a crap! thanks in advance.

JUST CURIOUS if the problem was solved. I too had a leak. I found the problem which was the breather which was changed along with a seal. then i had it fixed and again i had a leak and found another leak coming from what appears to be coming from a pressure bolt on the block with a Teflon disk. I ordered this part and should be receiving it today ..
