Yeah the bend in the selector rod goes upwards. I believe thats correct right? To clear the guibo?

Yeah I removed and installed the selector rod what must be 5 or 6 times over. But nothing...Good thing is I am actually able to reach under the car and remove the pins with my hands so pulling them off and putting them on over and over again is not too difficult...on both sides of the selector rod.

I'll keep trying to mess with it...see how things go

I did remove the transmission brace. But I am supporting it a bit with a jack. Omg this might be it? Maybe I should mount the tranny support bracket back up and then see?

Yeah, try that. I think that's why AKG provides those bolts so you don't have to fiddle with holding counter with the transmission in place.

Damn....so I mounted the tranny brace back up and low and behold, the lever was still sitting at an angle as pictured above. So it doesn't appear that is the reason its leaning...

Looking closely at the selector rod, you can actually see that its not sitting flat. You can actually see that its rotated clockwise ever so slightly, causing the pin to angle downwards slightly, which of course causes the entire shift lever to lean towards that same direction.

Looking at the tranny side, I'm pretty sure its because the part that the selector rod goes into on that end is slightly rotated as well.

Not sure if it changes anything, but the shift lever I removed was actually the E60 shifter. The previous owner installed the items in the last image a little over a year ago. Not sure if this install is leading to my current shifter sitting different? One thing I did notice with this kit was that it didnt seem to sit perfectly centered either. However I thought I read somewhere previously that this is a known flaw with the 5 serieis lever on the E46 M3. And with the AKG lever being so damn long, maybe its now way more noticeable? Man this is frustrating...

Hmm yeah, can you find a stock lever close by to try? That seems to be the only thing left.

Don't get frustrated, the shifter is totally worth it!

Did you try shifting it though the gears yet?

My AKG Stage II (installed in an E36) leans just a tad to the passenger side as well (very similar to the above pic), though not as much as yours. I'm using the AKG DSSR as well.

This shifter is fantastic so don't give up.

I'm using Vibra-Technics motor mounts and Rogue trans mounts just for reference and have 0 issues on track or street.

I didn't read through but did you replace your motor and trans mounts before the shifter install? I've seen collapsed motor mounts that were 1/2" difference in height which would easily cause the lean.

Thanks for the tip. After a lot of reading I decided to not do the dssr as a lot of consensus was that it made no difference compared to oem selector rod with the added yellow washers.

As for the motor and tranny Mounts, I installed the akg 75d tranny while I was doing this ssk install and was going to do the motor Mounts after I was done the ssk install (also akg 75d) .

Maybe I'll take a break from the ssk for now, do the motor Mounts first and then come back to the ssk to see if it makes a difference? That could give a me a breather and get some forward momentum going again maybe....as long as the motor Mounts dont give me more headache hahaa
