They will earn higher rates but will also have to pay higher rates to customers. This is known as NIM or net interest margin. Rates and bank earnings are not a pure 1 for 1 correlation. Rates go up, but other things such as mortgage trends, trading revenues, etc play a big role in bank stocks.

If you want a pure play on rising interest rates, look into ETFs that are short treasury yields such as TBF.

If you want to play the banks vs interest rates game, shy away from large cap money center banks like GS, BAC, JPM, etc and invest in regional banks. They trade more closely in line with rates than large caps do since their businesses aren't as diverse as the large caps.

You'll get owned by margin calls and the pros.

But, it's definitely an interesting market.

I'm never in longer than a few hours so margin calls aren't an issue. The second part is true so far however. I'm definitely starting to see the forest from the trees though.

Calls can happen intraday, most get sold out before market close or even in the pre and post markets if risk deems it necessary. But that's really bad, like 10% equity. Lol

Futures are different and I wasn't series 3 licensed but I worked with a few of the brokers on that side. They were just as aggressive covering calls.
