Default Aftermarket Single DIN Install

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2005 M3 with Business CD, and am looking to install an A/M Single DIN Head unit to allow USB/AUX input.

Crutchfield says I need the PAC SOEM to be able to add a the head unit, but the place where I purchased the deck didn't mention anything about it.

I've searched around but haven't found a concrete answer either way.

Do I need the PAC unit or can I just use the harness adapter that the shop sold me?

You don't need that. You just need to get the corresponding wiring harness that'll interface with your new headunit and the oem bmw harness. You may also need an antenna adapter as well.

But definitely no need for that pac soem.

Thanks!
So I got it wired up to the harness (twice actually since the first harness was an incorrect one)
But i wasn't able to get the single din to fit.
No matter which way i rearranged the wires, or tried to tuck them I wasn't able to get the deck deep enough to snap into the DIN ring. There always seemed to be about a cm or two of clearance needed.
Any tips?

So I'm not sure if it was incompetence or the fact that the first deck had too much crap coming out the back, but I exchanged it for a different one and it fit in much easier.
