Default How do you remove E46 M3 side mirror glass?

I know about the bayonet slide at the bottom of the glass, inside the mirror housing. I slid it all the way to the right, in the open position (after I tilted the mirror all the way up).

Mirror still won't pop out. I'm using my fingers, prying from the bottom. Trying not to break it.

Probably taped down....

I want to remove it in an effort to find out why it's vibrating over bumps...

Yes, the mirror is tight on it's base! The movement is occuring on the actual mirror glass.

Thanks,
Greg

When I replaced my mirrors, I just adjusted them all the way "out" then used my fingers on the inboard edge (right edge on the driver's side) to pop the mirror off.

Default Still need help w/ mirror glass removal....

:nixweiss:

Still having trouble removing my driver-side door mirror glass from the housing.

I've rotated the bayonet latch all the way to the right, and I've tilted the mirror in all directions, prying from all sides. It's not coming out.

I hesitate to really pull hard, because I don't want to break it.

Can anybody share w/ me the EXACT way to remove side view mirror glass?

I would really appreciate it!

I was having the same vibrating problem with the driver side mirror. That's why I stumbled on this thread. Finally, after almost breaking the mirror I was able to take this picture and how to open it safely. Trick is to turn the lever counter clockwise before attempting to pull the mirror.

But for the vibrating mirror, I found out later that this is the cure:

You can tighten the oval mirror body to the base by removing from door, and tighten the two screws.

My vibration is occuring on the actual glass, inside the oval housing. I've pushed the bayonet latch all the way to the right, but I can't budge the glass out! I don't want to force it.

Can anybody confirm the BEST side to grasp and pull?

Greg

The mirror is double side taped at the center of the mirror. There isn't really any best side to pull. Just tilt the mirror up all the way so you get the most opening. I used a thin screw driver (taped) and pried the center carefully from the bottom gap. Remember the latch comes off along with the mirror so pry pass it. But anyway, this is really as hard as detaching a glued down mirror. You know double side tape can be really strong.
