Default Auto Door Lock

Does anyone know how to program it so the doors automatically lock when you start driving? I'm not even sure if M3 can be programmed to do this, but I'd like to find out. Looking at the video came with the car, it sounds like you can program your key to activate this feature but it doesn't go into details. TIA.

mine does it automatically... its been doing that since the day i picked it up from delivery... if its not coming u have to take it to the dealer and get it programmed. if ur car is new its usually free. if its not they usually charge u an hour of labor =$109.

A simple dealer/computer setting. Yours has been been changed from factory defaults if the car isn't doing this already.

I just had mine activated at the 1200 mile service. I believe it is *off* by default, at least in the US. The sheets I have that list the car/key memory options (couple different versions) show it that way.

Mine was on since I purchased the car new. This week, I got the DRLs programmed off, and was able to look at a whole list of options I wanted to either turn on or off. The dealer charged me $32 and said I could have whatever I wanted turned on or off that was on the list. The auto doorlock feature was an option, aswell as having both doors unlock when you clicked the key the first time.

Thanks guys. I'll have to remember for my 12k service. $32 charge is reasonable, but not $109. Can you think of any other options that might be usuful? I'm thinking the auto doorlock and the side mirror tilt.

FYI side mirror tilt option is already on your car, just flick the little switch on your drivers door under the mirror adjuster controller if you want it to tilt down in reverse.

Mine tilts, but the view I'm getting isn't useful to me. I asked my SA about it and he said that they couldn't adjust it...

Yes they can. With the mirror tilt function in the "off" mode, the mirror tilts, but is not adjustable. With the function in the "on" mode it is adjustable when tilted. It just needs to be programmed. There are 100 different functions that cna be programmed like that when the car is hooked to the dealers computer.
