Default Rattle when closing the driver door w/ window fully down

Is it normal that the driver door has an ugly sounding rattle to it when closing the door w/ the window completely down? The passenger side is ok..no rattle, solid sound when slammed. But..the driver door, different story, sounds like an old domestic (no offense ) when slammed. Feel free to run out to your garages and experiment

This is what happens when you close the door using the window. Take it to the dealer and they will fix it.

I guess that was the way it was closed while on the dealer lot....I sure as hell don't close my door that way, it's only 1400 miles old.

Don't sweat it, it is an old BMW problem and mine did the same thing. If you have tint, make sure you check it after they fix it since they may damage it like they did mine.

Thanks....just got back from a 2 hour drive home and what do you know. I noticed slight window rattle even when fully closed and occasionally a sound of seeping wind.

By the way, is this a simple fix short enough for me to wait for?

Thanks for the info.

I took mine in for a rattle in the door with the window up. They put some aqua-felt (sp?) in frame that the holds the window. Rattle fixed.

I had that problem in my 330Ci several times and it was caused by a wire bundle coming loose inside the door. It is a quick fix that should take less than 1 hr.

I had the problem in my 330ci many times also. There is a metal sleeve in the door with 4 bolts that can come loose. It could also be the window regulator that is broken or defective. Its an easy fix...don't worry too much.

I just noticed today that my driver side window does not make solid contact with the rubber seam (part of the B-Pillar) that keeps the water out. When the door is opened and the window is fully up, the window seems to sway from side to side by about 5 mm or so. There is movement, that's what I'm trying to say. The passenger one is fine. I do have a bentley manual but can't find a fix for tightening up the window so that it won't have any play in the door. Anyone know a DIY or a page number?
