Default Slight Hesitation High rpms

I've beginning to notice more and more that up at high rpms 4k+ when 50-75% on the gas that the car hesistates a bit. For example, I would be on the gas and the car would pull and then hesistate for a split second and continue pulling.

I cleaned my MAF sensor and the problem is still occuring. Can it be my clutch slipping up at high rpms? My car has 37k miles and I drive it hard.

having the same problem myself . I changed the air flow meter , swaped the AFE intake with my stock one and still slight hesitation around 4k rpm . Almost feels like bad gas . I just bought a Throttle position sensor (TPS sensor) , ill let you know if it will solve the problem .I feel it more in 4th , 5th and 6th gear with 50 to 75% giving throttle (3500 to 5500rpm) .

Thats exactly what I am talking about. 3rd and 4th gear for me. I've had the hesitation for quite a while. I doubt its bad gas. I thought it could either be intake, clutch slipping, plugs?, maf or under drive pulleys.

Im going to the dealer tomorrow so I can reflash my ECU back to stock . I have the eurobahn softwear now and let them install the TPS sensor . Can't be the intake , cause I have the stock one on there now and a brand new air flow meter . If it was the clutch , it would do it in every gear . My car still launches of the line prety good until i engage to 3d gear than a little bit hesitation and 4th yo realy feel it .About the spark plugs , I just got inspection 2 done on my car last month . My deep instinct says that it's from the softwear , I'll let you know tomorrow .

I had Eurobahn software before, way back and it didn't do it. Later on with more miles 30 or so it began doing it. I recently upgraded to D/A Race software and it still does it. I have a feeling its my clutch. At least thats what the M5 guys are saying. When the clutch is worn and it gets hot, it'll slip.

Could be bad coils or perhaps a partially clogged fuel filter.

I am willing to bet $$$ it's one of the ignition coils going bad.
Typically, no more than just one gives out at a time.
These are the same identical symptoms that my priors cars experienced during coil failure.

Intermittent pauses in acceleration. Quite random. Will eventually get much worse and trigger a cylinder misfire fault code.

Hmm good call. Now how do I get the dealer to notice this? What would they need to replace? If I do a test drive, I might scare them with my setup as its very loud and I am running no cats.

as long as you are running on OEM-spec'd plugs, the dealer cannot possibly justify the premature coil failure as attributed by any of your mods.

Do not, under any circumstance, let the dealer just "fix it".
9 times out of 10 they take the easy route: basically replace all six coils and call it a day. Big deal you say? Yes, coils are expensive! Doing so may help. Or it may not. Typically they don't have the time to play around and test each coil one by one to pinpoint the deteriorated one.
That's where YOU come in. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the device you need to perform this is called an Ohmmeter. Prior to testing, you will need to find out what the specifications for our (E46 M3) coils are. If one does not operate within the OEM specified range, you know that it is faulty and should be replaced.

The other alternative is to drive your car until the coil deteriorates significantly enough to cause a severe cylinder misfire, at which point the ECU absolutely WILL throw a "cylinder X misfire" fault code of some sort.
