So here's the deal. I'm a current college student studying business and economics and one of my parents is a real estate agent. The more I hang around the office, the more I find myself interested in the field. So I asked for books and other materials so I can study to get a real estate license, just cause I figure I'm in school anyway, why not get it early? I notice alot of members are in the real estate/business/loans field and I'm wondering what kinds of jobs you have or know of that a real estate license would be useful for; besides the obvious of real estate agent/broker and loan agent. I know this may only apply to a few of you but I just wanted to see if anybody had anything to chime in with.

A RE licence will allow you to broker real estate transactions and makes you eligible for various clubs/organizations...that's about it.
BUT, that being said, if you work in any real estate related field (mortgages, appraisals, title, etc.) you will constantly come across people in need of representation, so always holding an active RE license in your state is a great idea. I spend about 5% of my time buying/selling homes as a licensed realtor, but it brings in an extra 30-100K per year. Best of luck, hope this helps

Krank - It'll be good to have. I got my RE Liscense between my Junior and Senior year of College to help my father out (he's a broker). It proved helpful during interviews and eventually helped me land a job with a private real estate investment and development company out of college.
Just depends how you spin it. |
